Pizza is one of the main food groups in our house. All of us love it. One of our favorite places to get it is Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza.

Jockamo’s has three locations around Indy: Lawrence, Irvington, and Greenwood. We’ve been to all three and loved them all equally. Fun family fact: The Adventure Dad took me to Jockamo’s in Irvington on one of our first dates. That was the first time I’d ever heard of Jockamo’s. We sat on the patio to eat our pizza on that date because that was before he really knew me. Now he knows that I am opposed to eating outdoors at a restaurant. Ha!

So, why do we love Jocakamo’s so much? Let me count the ways.

1. Creamy Parmesan

This is one of the dipping sauces offered and it is far superior to any cheese or dipping sauce you’ve ever had in your life. Make sure you get this. You will not regret it. My mouth is watering just talking about this.

2. Unique Variety

Although they have all of the regular toppings you would expect from a pizza joint, Jockamo’s also offers more unique “gourmet” options that make each visit exciting and yummy. For instance, you can top your pizza with:

  • chorizo
  • meatballs
  • pine nuts
  • gorgonzola
  • gouda
  • crawfish
  • eggplant

We often get the meatball pizza because the Adventure Kids love meat. Our friend Kenny, who loves pizza as much as we do, swears that the shrimp scampi pizza (not on the menu but available upon request) is the best he’s ever had. What makes it different is the shrimp scampi pizza uses the creamy parmesan rather than traditional marinara sauce.

If you’re not in the mood for pizza, Jockamo’s also has salads, subs, appetizers, and desserts on their menu. If your kid doesn’t like pizza (not sure if that’s a thing?), they have a PB&J Pie (peanut butter and jelly pita pizza) available for just $3.

3. Chill Atmosphere

Even though this is an “upscale” pizza restaurant, the pizza ingredients are the only thing fancy here. Well, that and the local art for sale that covers all of their walls (very cool!). The wait staff is chill and hip, and even when our kids are covered in pizza sauce and demanding more “shaker cheese,” no one has ever made us feel unwelcome. We definitely recommend this joint for families of every shape and size.

4. Locally Owned

We really like to support locally-owned business when we can. Jockamo’s is locally-owned. Many of their ingredients are locally-sourced, so that makes us feel even better about shoving our faces full of pizza.

Have you been to Jockamo’s? If so, what’s your favorite pizza combination?
